Charge Up Detroit Mobility Hub is a core part of Southwest Detroit Chargeway, it is the premier resident-led initiative creating a park network to mitigate issues of traffic violence, environmental, and industrial pressures in Southwest Detroit. This project will add off-street parking, an all-age playscape structure, native plantings to improve air quality, a water harvesting system, potable water, an off-grid solar pavilion for events and backup power, and infrastructure for a community bike library. Charge Up Detroit was developed by a core group of 20 residents and a 9 person youth steering committee. It is walking distance from homes and accessible through nearby alleys and backyards, away from busy traffic.
